From an early age, the talented painter Mario Mazzella took part in national and international artistic events, with personal exhibitions of his paintings in some of the most celebrated cities in Italy and Europe, and also in the United States and Japan.

His sixty five years of artistic career have been awarded with prizes and acknowledgements for his artistic merits; he was knighted by the Italian republic in 1981 and received titles such as Professore d’Arte Onorario(1987) dell’Istituto di Storia dell’Arte “Giorgio Moranti” di Fidenza, Commendatore della Repubblica (2004) and many more.

In 1962 he settled for good in his native Ischia and opened his own gallery in Ischia Ponte, now managed by his son, Luca.

Mario Gazzella Art Gallery, is situated in Ischia Ponte, in an area closed-off to traffic for most the day and all evening, and is accessible by car (car park on payment situated at the entrance to Ischia Ponte) and taxi or micro-taxi.
